Metallic Alchemy

Picture
The different oils listed throughout Kymia Arts fall under four main categories, also called realms within the alchemical study - Metallic, Mineral, Herbal, and Animal. Each categorization recognized by the ancient alchemists acted as a way bu which these philosophers could organize their materials, identify matter, and understand the flow that elements and consciousness take through form.

The four realms build upon each other, starting with the metallic realm. The metallic realm was said to give life to the mineral realm. The mineral realm gave life to the herbal realm, and the herbal realm gave life to the animal realm, where we reside.

The metallic realm, acting as our base, was believed by alchemists to possess the highest form of medicine throughout the earthly realms. It was believed that metals had the 'Universal Seed' most readily available within them. Because of this 'seed' or generative life force, it was the metals that were said to be the closest to the first material (Prima Materia) that produced the universe. Metals were also found to be immortal in a laboratory setting. If alchemical laboratory process were understood with great proficiency, this seed or 'metallic oil' could be easily extracted. But, the original metal used to create the extraction would always be retrieved at the end, leading alchemists to believe that metals alone were immortal.

If the oil of metal could be procured, the universal life generating seed, then this seed must be planted in man to give him great breadths of life. Only an immortal seed could grant divine medicine and longevity upon the heart of a man.

The oils procured from metal have been highly sought after for this reason. It was believed that their medicinal qualities were miraculous in their healing powers and could tackle the most severe of ailments. For centuries the methods used to produce metallic oils were guarded and kept hidden from the general public. At leads to those who did not understand the holographic and coded language of the alchemists. It is authentic alchemical wisdom, philosophy, and practices that are employed in the production of our metallic oils. Here a great mystery of our shared past is disrobed and made more accessible.

What is a Metallic Oil?

Metallic oils are extracted using traditional alchemical laboratory methods. They are produced via 'catalytic conversion reactions.' This essentially means that a metal is being used to catalyze a reaction within a solution of organic compounds, in return, producing essences that come to be know as the "Oil of ....." Metallic oils  do not contain any metallic constituents or particles and are found to be organic in nature. Since the metallic oils do not contain any metal, this means that no metal is present in the actual Oil and should therefore not be viewed as toxic or as containing heavy metals.

Metallic oils are comprised of the same organic compounds that make up essential oils, namely phenols, terpenes, aldehydes, esters, alcohols, and so on. It is these compounds that give each metallic oil its individual aroma, taste, color, and therapeutic effects.

Working with a metallic oil can have profound effects on one's physical and mental state and set the user in a position to carry on the long history of alchemical tradition through knowledge of self and spiritual evolution. Metallic oils are seen to work on the endocrine system helping to balance body chemistry and alter internal landscapes of mind and emotion.

As Above, So Below.
As Within, So, Without

Any changes made to the internal environment of the user will be reflected in the individuals external experience.

How is it made?

Splitting a Metal into its three principles:
To extract the oils of metals, particular laboratory process known to ancient alchemists must be employed. There are a few different methods by which we do this in the lab at Kymia Arts. Each process is slightly unique to the metal that we wish to extract, but at large we use two main methods. The first method is known as the Acetate Path within alchemy. This path takes purified metals and converts them into acetate crystals. These crystals are then crushed and distilled to render the soul and spirit of the metal at hand. (read more about the acetate path here)

The second most common method is one that we refer to as "Oil pulling." This method is used on metals that prove to be volatile or explosive. In the Oil Pulling method a metallic spirits is used to attract a dead metals soul into that spirit. That spirit can then be distilled off to leave the pure essence of the metal behind. You can read the full process for oil pulling HERE.

Overall, these process can take months to complete in order to bring these essences to perfection. The material used, time taken, and the strict attention to detail are all reflected within the offering featured on this and their valued price.
