- Extraction: Spagyric
The word spagyric means: "to separate and recombine" and is regarded as both a physical and philosophical technique employed to separate + purify the 3 principles of a material -Soul, Spirit, Body- before recombining them to create an extremely concentrated and effective remedy for body and mind, which we call a Spagyric. These extractions are extremely detailed and unique to the alchemical practice. During the spagyric process, the 3 principles of the plant are captured as: essential oil, distilled herbal liquor, and crystalized mineral salt. Once all 3 principles are gathered, they are recombined and allowed to age before being bottled for use. Spagyric remedies are estimated to be 300x more effective that traditional herbal tinctures, which means only a small amount is needed. The word spagyric was coined by the same man who made homeopathy common practice - Paracelsus.
- Use: Spagyrics are intended for ingestion and in small quantities. Simply dilute 1-2 drops in a drink of your choice and consume. Spagyrics can be taken at any time of the day and are more effective on an empty stomach.
Sesquiterpenes make up the majority of aromatic compounds in Atlas Cedar. The presence of sesquiterpenes can disrupt the cell walls of fungus, yeast, molds, bacteria, and viruses - in effect, giving Atlas Cedar its strong antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties. Luckily, similar to Frankincense and other "Holy Oils," Atlas Cedar does not target bacteria integral to the human microbiome. The Sesquiterpene-Lactones present in the essential oil have also been shown to sensitize tumors to prescribed drugs while make both malignant and benign tumors susceptible to the Immune System. These compounds have the ability to cross the blood brain barrier where they regulate fluids in the cranium, disrupt amyloid plaques, oxygenate, and regulate GABA receptors to soothe an overactive nervous system. The unique chemical profile found in Atlas Cedar makes it the most versatile and medicinal of the Cedarwood oils.
Cedrus atlantica:
The Atlas Cedar is native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and the Tell Atlas Mountains in Algeria. It grows on mountainsides at 4,400ft -6300ft (1,370 to 2,200 m) often in pure Atlas Cedar forests, or sometimes mixed with Algerian Fir - Abies numidica, Juniperus oxycedrus, holm oak - Quercus ilex, and Acer opalus. When fully grown, Atlas Cedars are very large coniferous evergreen trees averaging 115ft (35m) tall, with a trunk diameter of 6.5ft (2m). Most recognize Cedrus atlantica as its own distinct species, but some consider it a subspecies of Lebanon Cedar (Cedrus libani). The two species appear identical under a microscope and are essentially indistinguishable in overall appearance. Analysis of their volatile essential oil profiles also shows an identical match. Currently, Morocco has the largest continuous coverage of Atlas Cedar in the world, forming vast forests in the humid zones of the country, along the Atlas Mountains. The current total area is around 163,000 hectares, of which around 115,000 hectares (80%) are situated in the Middle-Atlas mountains.
